Favorite Things-Summer Edition

I intended to post my favorite things on Friday, because I like doing that alliteration thing, but I figure Saturday evening is just as good as any evening to share some of my summer faves.

Bahama Bucks Snowcones

A regular sized Cherry Kola.  All my weekly workouts go toward this deliciousness.
I love a good snowcone, and these are the best I've ever had.  The ice is shaved so thin it is practically creamy in texture, and every bite is full of equal parts ice and flavor.  There is no draining of flavor juice to the bottom of the cup while you chip through hard, flavorless ice at the top.  Plus Bahama Bucks offers more flavors than one could ever imagine and serves up snowcones complete with hypercolor spoons and sassy umbrellas.  True confession: I've been three times this month already (yes, once each week).  So far I've tried Cherry Kola, Key Lime Pie and Strawberry Daquiri. I have my eyes on Dreamsicle next.

Old Navy Active

So I was actually going to upload a picture of myself modeling the clothes I bought, but my phone isn't having it.  Really.
Active is Old Navy's line of athletic wear, and I must say I've been really pleased with everything I've bought from them.  I already owned a few long sleeved running tops and jackets, but those don't work for summertime.  When I got an email from Old Navy saying their active wear was 40% off, I headed over to see if I could find some light-weight tops and shorts for my morning runs.  I am in love with what I purchased and wish I could wear them all the time!  The quality is good and the price is extremely reasonable.  Hooray for new workout clothes!

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock, SPF 30, 3 Fluid Ounce (88 ml)

SPF 30 seems to be all I need for a few hours outside.  If I'm going to the beach where the sun is both overhead and reflecting off the water, I upgrade to SPF 50.
While everyone should wear sunscreen, those of us who are bringing paleness back really need reliable protection from the sun's rays.  This sunscreen is my favorite because it doesn't leave a greasy residue behind, doesn't drip when I sweat, and doesn't seem to cause acne outbreaks on my face.  I've used it for years and it has never disappointed me.

I know it is hotter than anything here in Texas, but for some reason, I just really love summer.  My runs are harder, but they seem more satisfying because not only did I run, but I did so at a super early hour while it was still in the upper 80's.  There's also something about the smells of summer-freshly cut grass, sunscreen, chlorine-that all combine into a delightful bouquet for my nose and transport me back in time to all my fond summer memories: church camp, trips to the beach, water park and Astroworld, drill team camp where we sweated through our lycra while high kicking on the football field, and lazy days at the swimming pool.

How are you spending your summer?  What are your summer faves?
